Social Media in Gaming

Facebook and Twitter, two of the most popular social media websites in the World, making up a total of over 700 million users. With this growing number of popularity you would thing that the Vegas gaming scene and that around the world would be getting on board. Well, if you guesses this then you are 100% correct. Below is the demographic of Facebook users vs Twitter users and how it is all broken down, followed by a little emphasis of how the gaming industries use these two colossal giants, I mean come on, these 2 are listed in the top 5 most visited sites online.
Demographic Breakdown

Las Vegas,  the number one gambling destination in the world, it should come to no surprise that this amazing city is leading the way in hotel social media marketing. Some of popular properties that play a role in this include; Planet Hollywood, Palms Las Vegas and Caesar’s Palace to name a few, are fully embracing social media by using it as deals for packages, promotions and contests. Many bars also use the "like" on Facebook to get complimentary drink coupons and such like that. By using these kinds of social media it allows these resorts to narrow down target markets in ways that help them build relationships with users and get to know them a little better. They also attract new customers and expand their overall reach to more users than would ever be possible before.

Palms Las Vegas, developing a Klout Klub. This being  ranking system that assigns a score to each and every person based on his/her ability to influence others through social networks. By using this rare tool, to their advantage by giving guests with high Klout scores a celebrity style visit with upgraded rooms and dining, including extra amenities and exceptional service all based on that of the internet. But don't forget, this is all done to help the hotel receive the status and publicity to reach a height no other traditional media outlets are incapable of doing. This would make a huge boom and little work would be needed once the technological system is input.
Caesar’s Entertainment  plans to reach their social audience through a new kind of "check-in". Visitors at Caesars Vegas hotels like Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, and Paris Las Vegas can, and others can now receive Total Rewards® points ( players card ) simply by ‘checking-in’ or taking pictures on Foursquare, Facebook and other popular social based services. With this in the arsenal, it could most defiantly help boost positive sentiment, also get new guests in the door and create a greater social presence by the more pictures and check ins, the more rewards and benefits, I love it.

With customer service calls being annoying due to the waiting or auto response questions and answers, the Wynn Las Vegas has made a whole new type of twitter account. One in which customers can tweet their questions and in turn the employees would get back to them in a very timely manner rather than messing with the phone. This causing huge gain in the social status of the hotel surpassing the others. Below, an example of the Twitter page with responses and questions.
